President's Message

Thank you for visiting the Philippine Nurses Association of San Diego Inc. (PNASD) website!

We are a 501(c)3 Non-Profit, charitable, nursing organization located in San Diego, California, one of 55 chapters of the Philippine Nurses Association of America.

At PNASD, we embody C.A.R.E.S: Compassion, Authenticity, Respect, Equality, and Service-oriented values. Our programs and initiatives span a wide range of areas, including professional development of our members, advancing healthcare efforts, scholarships to nursing students, Nurse Excellence awards, collaboration with community organizations through outreach and education, and promoting diversity, equity and inclusion. Some highlights of our recent work include:

  • Through PNASD Cares for the Environment, we participated in the National Coastal Beach Clean-up in partnership with Roaring Lions and "I Love a Clean San Diego" volunteers from 100 different sites. Collectively, 96,000 lbs. of debris and litter, 1,700 lbs. of recyclables, and 32,000 lbs. of green waste was collected that would otherwise have ended up in our ocean, beaches, and bay.
  • The PNASD COVID Task Force is committed  to educating the community about Covid-19 and the flu. Recent efforts include administering vaccinations to high school students. The PNASD  Mental Health Advocacy continues to disseminate information’s and resources on mental health, walked to support Breast Cancer, and actively participating in the multicultural diversity fair organized by local hospitals.
  • We launched the PNASD Alzheimer Task Force in collaboration with the Alzheimer's Association of San Diego to address the concerning rise in Alzheimer's cases. On October 7, for the first  time, PNASD participated in the Alzheimer's Walk with over a thousand volunteers.
  • We offered Spring webinar and several educational series ie Healthy Eating, mental health educational series in addition to many learning opportunities offered  by PNAA to promote the professional growth and leadership development of members including CEU classes for RNs and LVNs.

Looking forward, we’re excited to announce the following initiatives and invite you to join us:

  • Our Fall webinar is being held via Zoom on October 28 on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
  • We’re joining PNAA members at the Filipino Nurses Global Summit: Filipino Nurses at the Forefront of Global Health in Iloilo, Philippines on January 25-26, 2024,
  • Our inaugural Medical Mission on February 3-4, 2024 providing much needed healthcare services in Ilocos Sur, Philippines, a town next to Vigan, a renowned tourist destination and UNESCO World Heritage site.
  • A leadership boot camp on October 20-22 called Camp Aruga, in Sausalito, California, just north of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco that will provide leadership training, resilience, advocacy, empowerment, emotional intelligence/ agility, FON focus on DEI, not to mention all the team building fun .
  • Planning for our 50th Anniversary Celebration in 2024 is underway.
